Career Day at Seymour High School
Jackson County Industrial Development Corporation (JCIDC) – Workforce Partnership will host our 13th Annual Career Day (aka IPOD Day). This event takes place in the Seymour High School auxiliary gym on Wednesday, April 17th from 8:30am – 3:00pm. All participants should arrive by 8:00 a.m. to get their booth set up and ready to go by 8:30 a.m. We will provide the tables and chairs. If you need more than one table or electricity, please specify. Participants are to bring a table cover, if desired, plus any product items along with “free-stuff” for students such as business pens, rulers, wrapped candy, business cards, etc. You may hold a drawing at your booth, if you chose, and we will be happy to deliver the prize to the student, along with our prizes, if you desire.
All 5 Jackson County high schools are invited to bring their juniors/seniors to attend this event. Our 8th grade students will also be attending as an introductory into career awareness. We are expecting between 800-1,000 students total to come to this event.
JCIDC works diligently coordinating a diversified group of industries/businesses to bring an array of career paths prompting students to further investigate into a career of their choice. We are opening up our Career Exploration Day to include retail businesses too.
All companies and businesses are in need of employees and we are trying something new this year. JCIDC will have an old fashioned “JOB BOARD” set up in the gym. All industries/businesses/
All students will participate in an ice-breaker activity that breaks down that awkward/intimidating barrier between you and the student resulting in informative conversations about your company/business. That completed activity will allow the students to be entered into drawings for prizes.
If you would like to participate in this annual event, please let Jody Deckard or Jackie Hill know at your earliest convenience so we can secure a booth for you. This is a great marketing tool to introduce yourself to the students and share careers, opportunities, or just what it is you do or provide to the citizens Jackson County and possibly the world.
