SPARK Jackson County Receives Grant

Part of our vision as an organization is to “cultivate a thriving and prosperous business environment” in Jackson County.  In keeping with that vision, we launched an exciting, new initiative called SPARK Jackson County last Fall that focuses on developing a supportive ecosystem for entrepreneurs and innovators that connects these business pioneers with resources, training, community and existing business services.  Fueled by a grant from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, the SPARK initiative has enjoyed early success in less than a year.

One part of the SPARK initiative that is starting to gain traction is to develop and launch SPARK Place, a vibrant and dynamic coworking space designed to foster innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship.  We are happy to report that, after an extensive search of available real estate, the Jackson County Chamber Foundation has located a parcel that we believe would fit very well with the plans for a coworking space.  In addition, we learned yesterday that the Chamber Foundation is receiving a significant financial investment from the Jackson County Council to secure the parcel and begin development of the space.  We are still engaging with other potential funding sources and will have a lot of work ahead of us to develop the space.  We will continue to provide you with periodic updates as the project progresses.

By working together and creating new opportunities, we are making Jackson County an even better place to live, work and play!  If you have any questions about the SPARK initiative or any other Chamber programs, please do not hesitate to reach out.
